My Story
Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
"I've been a Deputy Sheriff for eleven years now. In the past few year (before the surgery) I felt as if my career was going to end due to my weight. I couldn't run anymore, couldn't stand for long periods of time, and was even having trouble walking all which was affecting my job performance. I was then a Sergeant and Shift Supervisor in our Patrol division. I would often take personal days or sick days off to recover from a long shift the previous day or night. My family also suffered! I was not able to play and do things with my wife and kids for any length of time, and never felt like leaving the house. I always said I wasn't depressed by being overweight, but now looking back I know I was.
Now only eight months later I've received a promotion to Lieutenant (which came with a nice raise), I'm now the Supervisor over the entire Patrol division, Corrections, Communications, and Clerical, and O yeah, the award I'm holding in the picture. "Officer of the Year" I received on April 9th of this year. My family life is going great too. With my wife and four kids it's soccer, softball, and baseball all the time, and the best part of all is I'm playing with them.
I feel I can now take back control of my life, to get healthier, and continue to lose weight. I want to thank Dr. Wagner and his staff for giving me the tools to do so!"
